June 11, 2013 at 6:18 am in reply to: Import AC3 work around?

[Paul Gregory] “. Is there a work around of do I have to use some other utility?”

Do you have SONY DVDA? What you are going to do is reverse engineer the process of Preparing/Creating a DVD and then extract the Audio from that.

    Using DVDA:
1/- Prepare a DVDA Project using JUST by dragging that AC3 to the DVDA Workspace.

2/- Go to the Prepared folder’s VIDEO_TS folder; locate VTS_01_0.VOB file and drag directly to the Vegas Timeline.

3/- In Vegas the only Video that’s generated will be the Default “Menu” background Media – so just delete it and you’ll be left with the Audio from that original AC3

    Job done!

  • If you need to go-over intros regularly save it like a working template veg and then import that veg as a “nest”.

June 10, 2013 at 2:52 pm in reply to: No OpenGL in SonyVegas

I should imagine it has something to do in the way that the OpenGL allows Vegas to get at that part of pI that requires OpenGL to be patched into it. Whereas the SA version, not requiring OpenGL, doesn’t. Which would be borne out by your experience.

But that’s only a guess on my part.

June 5, 2013 at 8:11 am in reply to: How do you remove TC from a .mov file

    Hmm…

1] Do you know if he applied T/C when it was filmed? OR is it a “featured” added in AVID?

2] If it is baked-in to the video you can’t remove it. Sometimes blurring the T/C can be an option or doubling the video tracks and with the judicious use of Track Motion to Cookie Cut an area OVER the offending T/C.

    Need more info from you?

There are several places we can apply FXs:

    * Directly to an Event on the Timeline – The result of this is that FX is restricted to that Event.

    * In the Project Media to the Media – The result of this is that any time that FX-ed Media is dragged to the Timeline the Event will have that FX

    * At the Track Header – This results in ALL the Events on that Track being affected.

    * Through the Preview Window – This results in ALL the project getting the FX.

    * Copy > Paste Event Attributes – This is a quick and easy way of copying an FX and it’s attributes from one Event to another Event. But be warned, ANY Event adjustments will be pasted to the Target Event from the Source Event. Second warning is that now in VP12 the Source will wipe-out any existing Target attributes and be replaced with the Sources atribs.

[Jeff Norris] “and simply drag/drop my commonly used filters in there and drag the container to the main tab.”

Q1: What is your method of dragging to your 000 Common Folder? I’m not getting that as an option.

Q2: Can you then ADD additional FXs to an Event, without the previous ones being removed?

May 30, 2013 at 5:25 am in reply to: Sort Sony Vegas Pro Video FX

    [Jeff Norris] ”
Is there any way to sort Video FX filters in Vegas Pro 12?”

    No. I’ve asked for one.

[Jeff Norris] ” I would like to make a “folder” of commonly used filters and have it listed first and expanded, like the “All” folder is.”

    You are not alone.

While on this subject of recalling FXs, I would also like the FX searching facility – yes there is one – to be better actioned, it is slow as frozen molasses.

There is a clumsy PluginManager-option, by making a set of repeated FXs as a Plugins and then applying, but that would drive any previously applied FXs away from the Event. So, again, that isn’t really a solution either.

All this points to me having no confidence of this being improved in the near future, if at all – ever.

  • [Izaya Orihara] “Version 12.0 (Build 486) 64-bit”

You might want to download and install the latest build for Vegas Pro 12?

[Izaya Orihara] “In Module ‘Vfx1.ofx'”Attempting to interpreting this, could be pointing to the OFX – Open FX – video fx and as such either an install of the Build 486 didn’t completely “take” or you’ve stumbled on a residual “bug”.

So, both of these items, added together, would suggest to me a need to reinstall with the latest build. But that’s your decision.

Yes, blown ports are a possibility, and needing to restart/reboot for the f/w handshake is another. However, do try the Legacy thing first though. Win7 isn’t setup up with these from the get-go, and it is this new win7/8 information I am responding to here.
