  • Import AC3 work around?

I would like to import an AC3 file for use in a project. I know that I can render out as AC3 but that it isn’t normally allowed to open these files for use. Is there a work around of do I have to use some other utility?

    Thanks in advance

Do you have SONY DVDA? What you are going to do is reverse engineer the process of Preparing/Creating a DVD and then extract the Audio from that.

    Using DVDA:
1/- Prepare a DVDA Project using JUST by dragging that AC3 to the DVDA Workspace.

2/- Go to the Prepared folder’s VIDEO_TS folder; locate VTS_01_0.VOB file and drag directly to the Vegas Timeline.

3/- In Vegas the only Video that’s generated will be the Default “Menu” background Media – so just delete it and you’ll be left with the Audio from that original AC3

    Job done!

I followed this proceed sometime back & it worked just fine.

I tried it again the other day & have problems. I set DVDA back to a DVD project & dragged the AC3 file onto blue background. The file size was 180 MB. I clicked make DVD then prepare & told the program to save it to desktop. When I opened the Video_ts file in Vegas & dragged the vob file to the timeline the clip was only 5 seconds long.

I went back to the DVDA which was still open & clinked on Optimize disk looked at the tabs & saw that the duration was set to 5 seconds for video. How do I get it to match the duration of the audio?

    Thanks in advance
