the same copyrights that protect this software package protect your rights as a creative artist. Since the majority of users here call themselves working professionals- yes we are expected to buy gear to do our jobs, no different than if it were screwdrivers and wrenches or punch-presses.
Why is it that people want to be paid for their efforts but choose not to honor paying others for their time and effort spent building the products.
for the Record you are totally incorrect on the SLA licensing issue.
[Ken Eakins] ” I’m afraid you’re mis-informed, the hackintosh I am using is running a version of Snow Leopard that I purchased from the Apple Store. Also, you should really re-read the license agreement before rattling off your opinion. It’s perfectly legal to install OSX on any machine at least once per copy.”
Lame is not reading the document you refer people too.
2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.
A. Single Use. This License allows you to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. You agree not to install, use or run the Apple Software on any non-Apple-labeled computer, or to enable others to do so. This License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time.gary adcock

[Shane Ross] “No…if it was shot 720p24 on tape, then use the DVCPRO HD 720p24 Easy Setup, and FCP will remove the redundant frames when it captures. It will detect the 24p flags.”
Uli.
To extract the frames correctly Use the AJA Easy setup for AJA KONA (card) 720p 23.98 DVCPROHD VFR to extract the frames on ingest. All of the Aja products handle this pulldown removal.
note that if you shot off-speed those frame will be properly handled using that same setting.

We are largely industry professionals here so few of use would risk our career using non standard hardware to save a few $.<< Here, here. FYI - windows runs better on apple hardware. gary adcock Studio37 Post and Production Workflow Consultant Production and Post Stereographer Chicago, IL https://blogs.creativecow.net/24640

[Michael Williams] “What is the advantage to editing in a timeline base of 24fps or 23.98. “
23.98 allows for realtime downconversion and playback on NTSC systems.
use 23.98, it will make you life much easier, many displays show sync or judder issues with 24.0 content.

September 1, 2010 at 3:32 pm in reply to: SO confused about Anamorphic presets and capturing.[sally obrien] ” changed my Audio/Videos settings to DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic for both the Sequence and Capture Presets.”
If you set the sequence to Anamorphic, it maintains the image in the “squeezed” format.
uncheck that box in the Sequence settings.

[Nigel Thompson] “Can someone recommend a start/stop record lanc controller for the Ki Pro. one i can stick on my tripods Pan arm.”
That function is not currently activated.
“And can someone educate me on how High speed recording (for smooth slow mo, exampple panasonics 60fps @ 23.98 in the HVX) is done , is at all in a Ki Pro.”
The KiPro is currently only supporting pulldown removal at standard frame rates using RP188 flags over HDSDI- there are no such flags over component analog to facilitate their removal.
sorry.

[Dave Bergan] “Ok, fine. Though according to this is implies it is a video signal”
Shane is correct
you need to read your own link thoroughlyI Quote:
Computer Displays operate in RGB color space versus YUV color space (used by a NTSC/PAL Broadcast monitor) therefore, some effects may appear differently between output to tape and what was previewed on the computer display.
Due to the refresh rate of LCD computer monitors, 1080i 60 and 720p 60 material may exhibit some temporal artifacts during playback. LCD Cinema displays, use phosphors rather than pixels and scan entire frames at one time. Therefore LCD Cinema Displays have a longer “decay” period between each frame when compared to lines being scanned on a CRT. At times, the same video image will be visible on screen for a period of up to four to seven frames
Video playback to a traditional CRT NTSC or PAL monitor differs from playback to LCD Cinema Display. CRT monitors scan entire fields of pixels to create a frame’s worth of lines.

Which machine and its specs as you are using it, which OS, FCP, QT versions, and what 3rd party hardware are you using.
MY first guess is your drives are too full to be able to finish the complete render or you are using FW drives and they are spinning down during your renders.

Everyone-there is a really simple solution for feathering on one side in fcp
you will need to make a mask prior to adding the feathering -so when you make the mask – usually a 4 point Mask Shape- extend the 3 sides that you do not want an a feathered edge on outside of the image area in an amount equal or greater to the feathering.
That should allow you to output with only a single side having the feathering.
