The x800 does have both an ADC and DVI connectors,
Note the Mac version of the board is different from the PC version that is commonly found at Comp Usa or Best Buy.
It does drive the 30 in Cinema Display and can accelerate GPU based applications such as Motion OR SiliconColor.gary adcock

My project in FCP 5 will be finished at another shop on version 4.5 (bummer – but schedule conflicts forced the move). I’ve sent them EDLs of all the spots, but was wondering if there’s a way to save the version 5 project file for use in older systems?
XML Export !!!!!!!
use version 1 from FCP 5 so that FCPHD can see it. it works like a charm.gary adcock

June 23, 2005 at 1:50 pm in reply to: FCP Introducing Interlacing in HD sequence… A bug?[Ryan Miller] Final Cut Pro HD doesn’t have an option of 1080p sequence or I would use that… Just 1080i, HDTV 720p, HDTV 1080i, DVCPRO HD 720p60, DVCPRO HD 1080i60.
first the standard HDcam format in 24 is PSF – which means “progressive segmented frame) so unless you are working in 444 with which does have a true progressive frame rates
YES HDCam 1080 24psf is played back as an “interlaced” formatgary adcock

[Wayne Franklin] “I know it doesn’t make any sense, but the change int he 020 menu did the trick. Anyway the deck is gone now and all the footage is in, so “c’est la vie.””
Wayne- the 020 level menus in the 1200a deck set the video out signal – if you were changing the the 020 menu (0000 is 720 / 0010 is 1080) it sounds as if
A) tape was the wrong format
B) deck was setup incorrectlygary adcock

We went through the menus again last night and Menu Item 020, SYS FORMAT, was set to 720p. When we switched it to 1080i, FCP recognized the deck. Is this normal? The footage was from a 720p Varicam.
This is definitely wrong, there is something else messed up here. what is the deck set to in the 600 menu’s it sounds as if the deck settings for the format was incorrectly set also.

< I >I just checked my settings and I have frame offset set to 0 but when I use JKL to start stop playback I’m seeing about a 3 frame drift after I stop playback. Is this just an FCP issue? < I/>
you should not be at a 0 —frame offset the current offset for the current Io drivers is -3
this frame delay is a function of FCP to allow for differences in cable length or router issues. it is not carved in stone.

[Michael Horton] “My understanding of Final Touch is that it relies a GREAT deal on the GPU. You saying it doesnt David? Guess I can ask Wednesday NIght when they demo at the lafcpug meeting.”
you are correct Mike, Final Touch Does rely on GPU performance, and it will only install with 3 video boards, ati’s x800, x850, 9800xt.
It’s going to blow you away, being able to do davinci level color correction on a Mac. Works directly with FCP via xml. FT is the final part of the FCP workflow, a truly professional caliber color corrector and finishing tool.

[Diana] “breaks (recorded by time-of day TC) and I have been logging in-outs between each time code break. I am wondering if I were to just capture now and let Final Cut make new clips when it hit a time code break, if the the pulldown removal would get botched up. “
IF you do that all of the 24p TC info gets screwed up– FCP cannot see where the file is ending so it does not know where to end the cadence so it stays at 59.94. So let FCP cover the breaks and you should be ok, BUT you will have issues in post due to the camera op’s lack of knowledge. (sorry this varicam 101)
there will be cadence errors in some of your clips that even the software FRC will not be able to handle.gary adcock

[Jonathon Robinson] ” I uninstalled the Kona2 Software, unplugged, opened ‘er up and removed the card this time. Blew a little canned air across everything just in case. Put it all back, safe booted, repaired permissions and restarted. No Kona2. “
does the system see the card in system profiler?
what does the info palette say in the Kona Control panel?
run the conflict catcher software, what version of QT, the current driver for Kona is 8-10 revs from yours, and the recommended systems for FCP4.5 is 10.3.8 / QT 6.5.2
