  • capturing HD 720p24 footage with timecode breaks

I am digitizing 24p HD footage using the easy set-up. There are multiple time code breaks (recorded by time-of day TC) and I have been logging in-outs between each time code break. I am wondering if I were to just capture now and let Final Cut make new clips when it hit a time code break, if the the pulldown removal would get botched up. I am digitizing from a Panasonic DVCPro HD deck (AJ-HD1200A) via firewire connection. This is a Final CUT HD project running on a G5.
    Thanks.

IF you do that all of the 24p TC info gets screwed up– FCP cannot see where the file is ending so it does not know where to end the cadence so it stays at 59.94. So let FCP cover the breaks and you should be ok, BUT you will have issues in post due to the camera op’s lack of knowledge. (sorry this varicam 101)
there will be cadence errors in some of your clips that even the software FRC will not be able to handle.
