this would be great (and true!) if Apple did not demand that the 3rd parties hardware vendors use the apple codec’s for RT. you know that FCP 5 does not even support RT Extreme in photojepg compressed video when first shipped. Apple does not want nor do they support 3rd party codecs of any kind for RT functionally in FCP.AJA uses the Apple

no you cannot cross convert the footage, I just use the 1080 version of DVCProHD at 24 (23.98)
On my DP2,5 the footage plays fine from a FW 800 drive,but I find that playing back from an array offers more RT, and thereby a faster edit.For off-lining in NTSC I use the master tapes and dig direct to photo jpeg or DV50 at 24p, by doing this is with hardware I get a more accurate edit and better offline TC without corruption (that happens with a software transcode between footage of different timebases)

It’s in the difference in the length of the audio attached to the video file, when the SDI captures the footage it is almost always capturing the video at 24p but the audio is synced at 59.94 and QT does not know what to do so it subclips the info due to the time discrepancy of the TC between the 2 formats.

I am with Walter it is definitely a QT problem.
HDSDI capture of 720p 24 worked properly for me in QT7.01 using the same drivers.Gary Adcock

JUst a thought, did you download the QUICKTIME PLUGINS?
the deck doesn’t work by default, you have to add the QT components to get FCP to see the deck.GO to the 1200a support page.install them then restart both the computer and the deck— in that order.

The answer is the same.
The only consistent solution to avoid the offline / online issues with Long GOP HDV content is to dupe dupe HDV tape to HDCAM or DVCPROHD so that you can get actual individual i-frames and TC, then when you digitize from the new “dupe” masters you will not get in to the Timecode offsets and lack of individual frames in the the HDV originals.Gary Adcock

1080i50 is an interlaced format, even 1080 24psf plays back as interlaced ( at 48i) on all but a very few highend displays.
Sony uses PSF or Progressive Segmented Frames for its content that is not 4:4:4.IT’s not an FCP thing, it’s a sony thing.
