I think you grabbed the wrong setting. does your capture setting say anamorphic? did you try turning that on in the seq presets so that the footage plays correctly?
This is a operator error problem – you just did not get the settings right.ga

you have never had a change in serial cable necessitate the need to change the offset in FCP? Or better yet had some lame serial router setup in a machine room cause an inaccurate offset?I did not mean to imply that that cable length would cause differing changes in the frame offset- but I have seen more than a few instances of a change in serial cabling causing FCP offset errors that required changing of the FCP capture offsets.

I’m with Leo on this one, Even thought you say it is on the master tapes My guess is something else was happening on during capture Was the audio split on capture or were you routing the audio and video from separate sources or were you working with embedded audio from the camera.

Offset controls are built into the capture settings of FCP, unfortunately they get often trashed with the prefs.
My Kona2 likes a -2.5 frame offset
My Io is set to -1.5 framesThese are normally issues that are dealt with by your systems integrator, and vary depending on RS 4:2:2 cable lengths and other hardware related items. My guess is that your Media 100 came configured by an integrator, and your FCP system did not

The Kona 2 will not cross convert between 1080 and 720- this is a known.
IT is not an issue with conversion to other fame sizes only these 2 HD formats.– HOWEVER it will convert from either 1080 or 720 to NTSC On the fly – you have the ability over HDSDI to capture the 1080psf datastream and directly convert that content to DV50 on the Fly with the K2 using the HDSDI source ( you can also do this from Dual Link)
I do not understand where the FW comes in Peter? this is totally a function of your Kona 2 reading an HDSDI stream and converting your HD footage via hardware to a DV50 stream so that you will be able to edit offline and does not have anything to do with anything FW.

The K2 is not capable of cross converting the frame size between 1080 to 720 at any frame rate or compression setting.
I also never recommend using compressor for conversions – IMHO it has never worked well enough for my needs.Gary Adcock
