Panasonic announced a new DVCPROHD deck (1400) with full editing capabilities and no options(about time) PL and B4 Lens adaptor kits for all for all of "prosumer" cameras HVX, FX1, Zu1, HD100u. 2k and 4K were the talk of the show - but Hitachi showed a 8K imager -that needed 16 HDSDI cables to move the data to the array. Sounds as if your version of the OS and FCP is not as current as it needs to be.
the Min specs for the import of P2 HD content is 10.4.3 or later and FCP 5.04 – anything less will result in the problems you are having.
the is no free MXF preview app on the mac currently.

As Michael said
with your Kona card, the possibilities for capture are only limited by your system, so Yes you should not have any problems capturing to 10bit 4:2:2 from any source in SD or HD.
remember that to capture data in such copious amounts you will need very fast and very large storage arrays– this is NOT something that can be done over FW.gary adcock

24p footage (Not 24pn) will need to be treated the same as Varicam footage has to be
you need to remove the pulldown cadence from the 60p stream.You can use the Software Frame Rate converter in the same manner as you would footage transfered from tape.

it is my understanding that is a restriction only when formatted as FAT32, and that is a FAT 32 issue.
My unit is formated as HFS+ and I have well over 1500 files on mine. (I am testing the DPX -2K workflow)gary adcock

Let me add that there are way too many factors involved to answer a question like this online, this is where a post production specialist is needed. If you are doing a film out, who is doing it? What do they say? What Stock are you delivering on? Is there other content to be added?
Extra care will need to be taken with any number of the camera adjustments, not to mention maintaining critical focus when you are planning delivery to a big screen.During NAB I lead a session on the HD to Filmout Process with panelists from PlasterCity and Laser Pacific covering this very subject. Steve Beres from Plaster showed the very first film out tests I know of done with the HVX200, simultaneously done at the same time as the Launch Event for the HVX200 last December.
The results were impressive to say the least, even with what was still a prerelease version of the camera.

for the Software FRC to work correctly in FCP the files must be in the root level of the browser, not in any bin or subfolder. Additionally they need to be in the root level of your “Capture Scratch”folder.
Footage that has passed thru the Media Manager or Compressor will not work in the FRC.Try creating a new project and drag any clips that you need to run the FRC into the new browser window and try the process again.

cmd -zero on the selected project will tell you what the setting arereset your project using the easy set up for your format (the one used for the capture)
and then create a NEW sequence. then check to see if the video playback settings are active. (set to all frames)all should be well

I too did the same thing, both in person and on video at the “send a message to ProApps booth” in the hallway (done on a HVX 200)I have been beating on the 25p issues with Apple for almost 3 years. Blame the EU for not determining (accepting) a “standard” for 720p25 until after the first version of the Varicam / DVCPROHD / HVX200 were in development.
Shane is a excellent resource, and personal friend and to “welcome” him in such a manner does all of us a disservice.
Apple listens but not necessarily to any of us. But what have you done to talk to apple on your own behalf.gary
