Editing on open-reel audio tape, linear editing, Video Toaster and the best movie theater in Dallas. Don’t miss Avid too much though 🙂

After running the 10.3.9 update along with QT 7, Compressor would not even launch. Same problem with Live Type. After deleting both programs and doing a re-install, everything is working out nicely. I think I will just go back to the 10.3.6 update and stay there.

  • My guess the upgrade or update of your OS seems to change your system settings. Try trashing your prefences files and Easy-Set up files, then re-launch FCP. If that doesn’t work you may have to delete FCP and re-install. Not a fun sollution but it works.

I have ran into the problem with previewing full-screen when updating the OS. After trashing the prefs and re-installing FCP HD (a real pain) I can get full-screen playback on my monitor. I hope this issue is cleared up in FCP 5 along with media manager. Grrrrrr

  • High five Jerry! I don’t regret having FCP, in fact I can’t wait for FCP Studio to come out sometime next month.

I am thinking the correct term would be re-compress? Have’t used Avid in along time to know what the term means, just taking a shot in the dark here.

The minor issue was getting on the internet. Other than that no problems.

I have daisy-chained my camera to the back of one of my LaCie hard drives and have had no major problems capturing or recording back to tape. I am currently running two LaCies as a RAID and have had no problems, and each drive is connected into its on firewire port on the back. I know this is probably not recommended by some, but it seems to serve my purposes well. Waiting for the price of a G5 to drop a little more, but looking at dual 2 processor in the next few months along with the big disk extremes. But I am waiting to make sure they don’t have any problems running under Tiger. Trying to forget the day I did the 10.3.9 update.
