Took the plunge and installed Tiger on a separate partition. So far so good except for two issues. Playing clips that have been captured with Photo Jpeg backwards is a hit and miss affair. Sometimes you see visual playback, sometimes you don’t. Most annoying thing is that you can no longer get full screen playback on a Cinema display if it is your main monitor. If you have two monitors you can get it to playback on your second monitor but not the main one. It will go to full screen but you have no way of using the keyboard to control playback. You can use the interface only if you have a second monitor is showing the canvas on it. I use my Cinema Display a lot to view edits as it’s a great way of looking at your cut before you de-interlace it. Oh and no it’s not a QuickTime Pro thing. I thought that initially, so I bought the pro licence. No difference. But hey it’s great to watch those H.264 trailers full screen!!! WOW!

I have ran into the problem with previewing full-screen when updating the OS. After trashing the prefs and re-installing FCP HD (a real pain) I can get full-screen playback on my monitor. I hope this issue is cleared up in FCP 5 along with media manager. Grrrrrr
