Short cut for the dissolve is cmd + t for video and cmd + alt + t for the audio. I dont know any way to put video on to the timeline with out audio, im not sure its something the developers envisioned people needing to do.

Have you tried closing the sequence and reopening it? Usually works for me.

Therre sure is! Put your play head over the frame you want as a still then…FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME CONVERSION
From the drop down list select still image (be careful not to select still image sequence, as that will export a still for every frame in your sequence. Select options and choose what you want.

Assuming that you have done the usual and quit restarted finalcut. then trashing your prefs is the next thing to do. I have used mpeg streamclip to do the same thing as you are doing, but ive never had that kind of problem. If you still dont have any joy perhaps doing you DVD to mpeg again? Clearly finalcut does not like your file somewhere down the line.

Firstly you need to make sure your sequence settings match the file your working with. Im not quite sure what your problem is but are you double clicking on the clip and adding the effect?

  • I cant really help with the audio rate but really audio should be as AIFF for final cut. At least thats what I have always been taught. itunes can convert to AIFF.

If you google you will prob find. Search for Colour Limit with 3 way colour correction FCP or something like that. If not lynda.com does a tutorial series for final cut which are really good and this is covered but I cant for the life of me remember what final cut title it was under. Those are not free btw.

Ah yes that is for stopping notifications, I have to say I do stuff for web so dropped frames are not much of a bother at a 400kbps flv.
