Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy modify a movie

    Dear all,
U have a serious problem with a movie. It has been ported from super 8 film to a DVD by a photo studio.

Actually I want change the bad editing by the studio and I have converted from DVD format to DV using MPEG Streamclip.

Once started final cup pro I have operated some cuts but when I try to modify the color or to allpy some filter I return no effect on the movie.

    It seams to be blocked.

I have tried to import directly from DVD to FCP or converting (with MPEG Streamclip) to AVI format but with the same results.

This movie is of my wife (when she was a little baby) and I am preparing a surprise.

    Thank You in advance

Firstly you need to make sure your sequence settings match the file your working with. Im not quite sure what your problem is but are you double clicking on the clip and adding the effect?

The clip setting and the sequence settings are exactly the same.

My problem is that if I split the movie (to remove some parts) and the want to use a transition (i.e. Dissove), the transition does not work. Also If I chosse a filter (3way Color corrector or brightness) and drag onto my clip I cannot change anything (if I change the numerics nothing will change on image)

Assuming that you have done the usual and quit restarted finalcut. then trashing your prefs is the next thing to do. I have used mpeg streamclip to do the same thing as you are doing, but ive never had that kind of problem. If you still dont have any joy perhaps doing you DVD to mpeg again? Clearly finalcut does not like your file somewhere down the line.
