Final Cut Pro -> User Preferences -> uncheck the option ‘report dropped frames during playback’

If you talking about the cars being in colour and the rest of the shot being in black and white, that is achieved with the 3-way colour correction and the limit colour twirl down option at the bottom of the graphical preference plane. Its a little difficult to explain typing, but its colour limit with 3-way colour correction filter.

Agreed, although I was going to say most looks like they used a film grain and also there were some dust and scratches filter in there as well.

I am in fact in the UK does this change anything, except making sure settings are PAL in DVDSP.

Yea I know clients that want wmv, sometimes you feel like the only sane person in the room, anyway…

You have a few options

flip4mac – this puts an option in your quicktime conversion render options (accessed via the drop down menu)
Or
Visual Hub – you will need to export a file from final cut (it will support 4:22 8bit) and drag and drop the file into the program

http://www.perian.org – which is free is also a great addition although it does not do wmv

Its not an option any where. Most websites are flv or mov now. H264 is a really nice compression, Im on a project now that requires a .mov at 320×240 400kbps which came out at 233mb and an flv of the same size was 225mb. Basically time to move with the times .rm is the way of the dodo, I did a search for you but I cant find anything that would convert on the mac. However I think you might have more luck finding a program for the PC.

Thanks Alan, really helpful response. Our laptop has 2.04 GHz and an 8x so hopefully it should be Ok. Last question I promise (ive never really used DVDSP, my boss wants to buy a firewire DVD 20x once connected its should be a case of just selecting it from a drop down menu in burn options in DVDSP?

Thanks man that is really great answer! Can I/How do I loop the track in DVDSP? Is there an option some where that will just get the DVD to loop once its played in a DVD player ? Also how long would it take to burn the disk?

If your footage is SD (and I hope it is) as 10 cameras a HD that will be a hell of a computer you would need. You can help your self out a lot by changing your RT settings to low quality play back also frame rate but that would make editing hard. Also look into offline editing that may help a little (you capture at a lower quality). Im on an G4 1.25GHz and I can run 3 cameras but changing between cameras is sluggish. I would also recommend using activity viewer to end as many system processes that you can (please google each process if your not sure what it is, especially if you ending processes that are ‘root’.)

Wow great post that explains it excellently. I think i will export as dv25 for now just so i can see it in fcp so i dont go mad with the colour wheel of death. I usually go through firewire into final cut, and as I say no problems with fcp playing 13 gb quicktime files. Ive got a friend with a newer machine so I will try playing it on his. I will go with your suggestion of using the lossless file and just not playing it in rt. Thanks again for taking the time to go in to so much detail and explaining it to such a simpletons level greatly appreciated!
