Look, you have one multipin connection on your HDe/Aja board. Either you use this multipin connector to connect the breakout box to the board with the supplied multipin/multipin cable, or you use the multipin to BNC/RS422/XLR connector cable and you forget the breakout box. You cannot use both at the same time.

You could install the Media 100 software codec on your system (can be found in the Media100.com download area) to read your Media 100 files directly in FCP. Unfortunately FCP is not that flexible regarding codec support, so most likely it would be easier and more convenien to edit the clips in e.g. Media 100 Producer that can be installed on a FCP system.

For a RAID system you should use identical drives. If you want to work in uncompressed HD you would need at least 4 drives (probably more) striped as RAID 0 without journaling. Jpurnaling gives some additional data protection but slows down write access to the drives.

Um, 12 hours is LONG. You most likely need to convert the file in something watchable, like MPEG1, H.264 or something similar. So export from Media 100 to a by-ref movie, and then convert to whatever format you and your customer agree to. Then upload it to the FTP-Serve via an FTP program. Most likely you will not notice a big difference between MPEG streamclip and S-Video in. I would do a short (e.g. 1 minute) import of both ways and look if the Streamclip way is much better. If not, why not digitize directly, which is usually quicker.

From MPEG Streanclip, export as Media 100 i 720 codec file (either PAL or NTSC), with a high data rate setting. This way you have to recompress only once, and for PAL you will stay in the DVD resolution (720*576), while for NTSC you only have to do a small conversion (480->486 lines). You probably will not notice any differente wether you will use e.g. 70% or 90% quality, since the source material (DVD) is somewhat limited.
