Media 100 ist a 32bit Application and relies heavily on QuickTime. Both support for 32 bit Applications and the (32 Bit) QuickTime Frameworks have been removed by Apple with MacoOS 10.15 Catalina. MacOS 10.14.6 Mojave is the latest OS that will allow Media 100 to launch.

You could download the current, free version to work with your project. Or get in touch with Rich here: https://www.macvideopromo.com/pages/contact-us

Unfortunately it is not that easy. Media 100 not only uses names for tracking files, but on import each media file gets an ID that is used for keeping track of media files. This way you can have various files with the same name in different (or the same) projects, and Media 100 knows which file is associated to which clip.

One thing you could try is to export an XML of your Timeline, and then edit the tags inside the XML to point to the new files, possibly by a batch-rename. Then either re-import the XML or use the “Update media from XML ” command in the Media Menu.

I have done some initial testing with the release version of High Sierra, and so far there are only small issues. Right now I would not recommend to jump to High Sierra on a production system, though. Plus, I haven´t tested on an APFS startup volume (external SSDs don´t get converted to APFS automatically), so this could be a cause of problems that needs to be tested before being able to say something more reliable.

XDCam HD/EX codecs are set up to use the 16-235 colourspace. If you do a “manual” import into Media 100, you should treat the footage as being in this colorspace.

On export, you should chose a colorspace that matches your codec. ProRes and most delivery codecs like H264/MPEG4 use the full 0-255 Colorspace. If you do an export e.g. to ProRes, you should export into the Full Range space.

Do you have turned on the “Use F1, F2… keys as standard function keys” setting found under OSX System Preferences->Keyboard->Keyboard? Then you should be able to use your F-Keys as Function keys instead of OSX action keys, and they should work in Media 100

March 3, 2017 at 5:39 pm in reply to: Black Magic Mini Monitor

We are using Intensity Pro 4k cards on some of our systems with Desktop Video version 10.8.5 and Media 100, so I guess it is not a driver issue, but related to the fact that the BMD Mini Monitor has never been tested with Media 100. Probably there are some things it does differently than the Intensity and Studio cards from Blackmagic, and since Media 100 is not expecting these results/responses, it throws an error. I guess you are out of luck with the Mini Monitor.

Yes, it was added in a later version of Media 100, which added support for the Mac OS version that removed the bubbles in the upper right area of the windows. If you are running on a newer OS version anyway, you should think about updating to a newer Media 100 version, unless there are reasons not to.

    October 31, 2016 at 4:10 pm in reply to: Can’t create 1080p 23.98 program

Unfortunately you cannot create a 1080/23.98p timeline within Media 100. When the HD formats were introduced, the Media 100 cards did not support 23.98p and 24p output, only psf output, which is outputting progressive frames over an interlaced connection. These days it would be possible with the Kona cards and can be done from a Bin, but unfortunately the timeline settings have not been updated to reflect that.

I guess it is not a big help, but Avid has the same limitation, outputting 23.98p timelines as psf over Kona cards.
