Sounds to me like you put the entire movie on the menu instead of having the menu point to the movie.

Is it possibly that song or voice is only on ONE side (i.e. left or right) and that side is NOT attached from the DVD player to the TV?

As of version 4 of Excalibur, Tsunami and Neon were merged with Excalibur. So all versions of Excalibur after version 4 also include all tools that were initially in Tsunami and Neon. So just get the current version and you’ll have everything!

Tools – Scripting – Rescan script menu will do the same thing if you just dropped the script into the “Script Menu” folder.

Click the video, CTRL-click the audio, now drag them both wherever you want them.

Actually, generally speaking, you WOULD want them to close when not the active application. Suppose you have a photo at the beginning of the timeline. You now decide you need to make a change to that photo. If Vegas closes when not active, you can start your photo application, make the changes needed, save it, and when you switch back to Vegas the changes will automatically be there.

Now you’ve switched the setting and you’re trying the same thing. You can open the file, change it, but you can’t SAVE it because Vegas has it open. So you save under a different name and change it in Vegas or you exit Vegas, save it, and restart Vegas.

The Media Snapshots tool in Excalibur can do this easily. It can do it based on time, markers, regions, events, etc…

If it’s still straight through on one clip, just delete the event on the right and then extend the event on the left to fill the hole you just made.

Adding the audio back can be done manually. You just need to double-click the video event, then right-click the video event and choose “Open in trimmer”. Now press TAB until the audio is selected and the video is not. Next click and drag the audio back down to the timeline.

However, the entire process is much faster via a script.
