Click on the first picture. Shift-click the last picture. Now press “G” to group them. Next, hold down the CTRL key and resize the group to be the proper length.

Yes, “Enable Crossfades” MUST be active. It’s also a button on the toolbar and is ON by default.

What happens if you rename that file and reboot? That file technically isn’t required for the operation of Windows.

The velocity envelope can definitely slow it down (in fact, set to 0% it can stop it and negative %’s will go in reverse). Now, are you wanting to actually see something in particular? Or just that there is still motion? For example, if it’s a record you probably won’t be able to get it to the point where you could read the label.

Go to the explorer window. Click on the LAST image. Hold down the shift key and click on the FIRST image. This should select them ALL. Now click and drag the first image which should drag them ALL to the timeline at once. When added to the timeline, they will all have the specified crossfade time applied.

If you want them all ONE file in DVDA, render to DV-AVI (I’m assuming the original content was DV-AVI). Once all the DV-AVI files are done, load them all in a “final” project and then render the complete project to MPEG2.
Alternately, in Vegas 6 you could use nested VEG files and not render anything until the final render.

Vegas 3, 4, 5, and 6 are the same in this respect (I don’t have 2 on a machine any more)
Let’s make sure we’re both talking the same:
1) Options – Preference – Editing tab: “Automatically overlap multiple selected media when added” is CHECKED and the “Cut to Overlap conversion” amount is set to the length you want the clips overlapped.
2) You select several events in the Explorer window or the Media Pool and drag them ALL to the timeline at once.
You will now have a bunch of clips on a single track overlapped by the amount you specified.

Turn ON “Cut ot overlap conversion” and set it to the amount you want the clips overlapped. Once set, drag the events to the timeline and they will be overlapped by that amount.
[Tinfish] “Good. OK. I copied the script from the webpage you pointed me to, but, er, what do I do with it? I would imagine I’d have to paste it into a file and give it an extention name. But I’d appreciate a few pointers.”
Copy the text of the script and paste it into notepad. Save it in the “Script Menu” folder under the Vegas folder as “AddGaps+Overlaps.js”. You can then run the script by going to Tools – Scripting and picking that file.

This only applies if done BEFORE adding the events to the timeline. Then you select them all and drag them all to the timeline at once. They will be placed on the timeline with the amount of overlap you specified.

You will need to manually adjust the gap/overlap amount and use a negative timecode for overlaps.
