After years of trouble-free use Vegas version 3 seems irretrievable broken on my system. When starting the program I get the following message: “C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose close to terminate program” When I choose close, my computer is frozen with the Vegas splash screen visable. I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling, but the same thing happens. Any suggestions?

Seems like you need to fix or reinstall the OS.

What happens if you rename that file and reboot? That file technically isn’t required for the operation of Windows.

You might do a tech support search on microsoft.com

I had that problem once before and vegas was not on
    that machine.

I don’t recall what the fix was, but it was easy.

    Just replace c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt with c:\repair\autoexec.nt

Could you give me specific instructions on how to do this?

Using Windows Explorer, or any other file manager you choose, just copy the file c:\windows\repair\autoexec.nt to the c:\windows\system32\ folder and choose “yes” to replace existing file.
