Either use some program to convert it to DV-AVI or capture out the analog output of the camera through a convertor such as the Canopus ADVC-100 into a standard DV-AVI file.
In all honesty, you would be better off trading it in on a MiniDV camera.

Vegas 6 will not read AC3 audio. You will need to convert it to something Vegas 6 can read (like WAV). Same is true with your camera footage – the audio is AC3 and needs to be converted to something else.
Why are you giving Vegas 6 files encoded in TMPGenc? MPEG2 is NOT a good editing format.

Here’s what’s happening: When you press “S” to split a clip to which a velocity envelope has been applied, the new clip will begin as if there was NO velocity change applied. I have reported this behavior in the past. You could change the velocity back to 100% at that point. If you really DO need to actually split it, do as Steve said and render it out first.

Try adding the timecode effect to that clip in the MEDIA POOL (or Project Media).

Is that one of those cameras that captures left on stereo 1 and right on stereo 2? If yes, there’s your problem. Vegas will only see stereo 1. You can use Scenalyzer Live to capture video + stereo 1 into an AVI file while simultaneously capturing stereo 2 into a WAV file.

How about some more details. How exactly are you capturing and from what? How are you determining it is mono?
When capturing via firewire, it’s really a file copy from the tape to the hard drive.

That’s one way. You could also add a new video track on top of all the rest and put a mask there.

Yes, via scripts. To create the gaps of that nature, I use the Gap/Overlap tool in Excalibur. A free script that also does this is available on my website. It was written by Kamac. Here’s a direct link:
