  • Velocity issue on in/out point of event when splitting clip.

I have a clip with a velocity envelope on it set to 30%.

When I split this clip, the IN point of the second clip changes. How do I work around this? I want the second clip to pick up where the first clip left off, as one would assume would happen, I think ???

I want to be able to set a velocity envelope to a clip at 30%, to then split the clip and have the
split seamless and transparent as far as in and out points around the clip are concerned.

There’s a lot of reasons I want to do this..

Render the clip to a new track before you split it.

Here’s what’s happening: When you press “S” to split a clip to which a velocity envelope has been applied, the new clip will begin as if there was NO velocity change applied. I have reported this behavior in the past. You could change the velocity back to 100% at that point. If you really DO need to actually split it, do as Steve said and render it out first.

couldnt you also just adjust the clip using the “alt” key to line the two clips up?

    Short answer: yes.

Long Answer: Yes, BUT it may be extremely difficult to find the exact frame that should come immediately after that last frame. So you may spend a fair amount of trial and error until it is right.

Another easy thing to do is to nest the slo mo clip as a separate .veg. This enables you to still make speed changes to the clip as a whole, but split it frame accurately.
