The full version of Vegas 6 and VMS 6 both also have a right-click – Reverse option. However, I believe you cannot do this in VMS 4. You might consider upgrading to VMS 6.

If you have Vegas 6, the best way would really be nesting. Just start a new project and add each of the three individual projects to that new project. The new project will appear to have THREE events (one from each project).

There are several alternatives but one I have used frequently is very similar to the above (and works in previous version of Vegas as well). Simply render each project to a separate DV-AVI file, start a new project, and then add these three rendered files to the timeline.

Vegas capture DV files in an AVI wrapper when capturing via firewire for SD video. HDV files are capture via firewire into m2t files.

Yes. That is how I work. Assume the entire is going to be seen but keep all “important” part inside the real safe area.

I also have a full writeup about changing speeds in Vol 1 #9 of my newsletters. If you haven’t, check them out (link under my name).

He said WHY it was a problem. His solution is to make his OWN “safe area” by blacking out what he doesn’t want people to see.

The alternate solution would be to only use full screen where “off the screen” was the safe area. However, that might chop some things off when viewing on a TV.

I agree that it’s somewhat arbitrary what you use for the safe area. In this case, he simply had some things that were visible in some circumstances that he did not want visible in any circumstance. Hiding them is a very viable solution (especially if it meant re-editing the entire project).

    Now… for future projects…

[rodent] “Does the program send the entire dvd to some holding tank (folder) and THEN to the burner?”

Yes it does. In fact, you should really have DOUBLE the disk space free to allow it to have plenty of space.

If you KNOW it is small enough, tell it to render anyway and then, when it’s done, verify it really is small enough before burning.

    2. Yes
    3. Yes

And Vegas is great at changing between the various formats and is better than all other NLE’s when it comes to audio.

I agree with Peter. You don’t really need a script for this. Just do a “File – Render As” to each of the files and render them to a smaller format. That should allow you to do what needs to be done.
