  • Apply the effect to the media in the Project Media for the ones you do not want masked. Then the effect will be applied before it ever hits the timeline.

  • I would look at the order of the effects in the effects list. Remember, effects can also be placed before the Pan/Crop as well as the default position of after.

Personally, I like Vegas better than Premiere because it’s more intuitive to me – it works more the way I think than Premiere does.

Probably the number 1 reason for me to stick with Vegas – SCRIPTING. I don’t know of any other NLE that allows you to extend the abilities of the editor like Vegas can with scripting. I would be lost without the tools I use in Excalibur. I also wrote a script that we use at church so that “non-editors” can actually edit a church service without having to know the “nuts and bolts” of editing.

But other simple things – like overlapping two clips to create a crossfade (not having to worry about “heads” and “tails”) may not seem like much but greatly improves my workflow.

  • I answered that…

Use MOV. MP4’s don’t support an Alpha Channel.

It’s just VEGAS. It’s owned by Magix.

I don’t know of any plugins that would automatically do that.

June 29, 2020 at 4:59 pm in reply to: Timecode resets when I split it

    Two things:

    1. The timecode SHOULD reset if you split the event. The solution – don’t split the event! You don’t need to split that event.
    2. Why not use an “Empty event” instead of a text box with no text?

  • The Vegas Pro 14 bundles will watermark in later versions of Vegas Pro. It will run fine but it will watermark. To remove the watermark, you’d need to upgrade to the current Titler Pro.

  • The same effect can fit in multiple categories under the effects/transitions lists. For example, if you install a NewBlue plugin, they will show up under “All”, “OFX”, “32-bit floating point”, “3rd Party”, and an individual category for the NewBlue plugin (such as “NewBlue Transitions” or “NewBlue Elements”)
