You can add an effect four places:

1. An event – only affects that event
2. A track – affects all events on that track
3. Media Pool – Affects all events in the project from that piece of media
4. Preview screen – Affects the entire project

Sounds like you have placed it on #4 and, maybe, should have used one of the other options so that the JPG event does not get affected.

Right-click the track header and turn off “Expanded Track View”. It’s a feature you can read about in the help file.

I don’t know if it’s a known issue but as the current version is 17 and you’re on 15, I’d say it won’t be fixed even if it is known.

Technically, a script cannot see audio levels direct from Vegas.

Pan/Crop will use the full resolution of the image as you zoom in.

Track Motion will zoom in on the VIDEO FRAME – so you will lose resolution because you’re zooming in on a much smaller resolution.

If you need to zoom in, Pan/Crop is the option you need to use.

What you are using is fine. You do not need a “newer” capture software as all it’s doing is capturing DV anyway and it what you have will capture that just fine.

You might hold down ctrl-shift when starting Vegas and reset it back to factory defaults.
