Thanks for all the suggestions! Lots of great info here. For my purposes I think I’ll end up getting the Seagate drives Tim pointed out since I don’t need to hold onto my projects forever and only need to drop $300 to solve my immediate problem. If I end up acquiring a lot more footage over the next few years I’m sure LTO is the way I’ll end up going.
Also, Backblaze looks awesome. Don’t really have a need for it right now but wow! Can’t beat the price.

January 2, 2015 at 6:11 pm in reply to: Seriously? PPro CC still can’t import subfolders?!Kim, this has since been fixed in PPro CC 2014. Folders and files are imported with the same hierarchy that they have on the OS.

November 29, 2014 at 9:02 pm in reply to: how do i get premiere to find “missing” AE video filters?Same problem here, 2 missing filters but I don’t know where they are:
Video Filter missing: AE.ADBE 3D Tracker
Video Filter missing: AE.ADBE CurvesCustomI don’t have any Direct Link clips, just clips I’ve exported from AE. Any help on finding where in my project these filters are being used?

If the only reason you’re going to VHS is to get the “VHS look” you might want to just check out Red Gian’s VHS plugin: https://www.redgiant.com/store/universe/products/tool/vhs
It would save a lot of time

October 31, 2014 at 4:56 pm in reply to: Keyboard shortcut for soloing a single track for track targetingYeah, sounds like that’s the best solution for now. I’ll have to put in a feature request for this. Thanks!

October 10, 2014 at 4:09 pm in reply to: Consolidate and Transcode with Dynamic Linked footageYeah, that would definitely be the easiest way to get around this. Should have mentioned that I always like to keep my AE projects as PPro when archiving just in case I need to make minor changes or am working on a new project and want to step back in and see how I did something – so I want to keep the Dynamic Linked clips as such and not use the Render and Replace feature in PPro.
Thanks for the suggestion though Walter!

I’m having the exact same problem. Just searched the Preferences and couldn’t find anything that would fix this.
Did either of you find a solution?

Sorry, should have explained myself more thoroughly. I have a multicam clip on track V1 and another multicam clip on track V2 and am working in Multicam View in the Program Monitor (the setup looks like Andy’s screenshot).
The multicam clips on track V2 or V3 are used for b-roll so I’m looking for a quick way (without flattening) to see the shots from the multicam clip on the top most video track – for example, if I have a multicam clip on track V1, V2 and V3 I don’t want to have to toggle my track targeting to V3 to be able to change it’s camera and if I delete the clip on V3 I want PPro to show me all the cameras for the clip on V2 without having to toggle it’s track targeting.
I doubt this can be done though…

July 25, 2014 at 6:55 pm in reply to: How does one remember the keyboard shortcuts for all the 3 NLEs ?I stick to editing in Premiere Pro – haven’t found a job it can’t handle yet and every place I’ve freelanced at around LA is using CC now so I haven’t run into that problem ;P
Sorry… that’s not a good answer. I agree with JP though, customize it so they’re similar. Anybody who isn’t customizing their keyboard is probably wasting a little time with a lot of operations, it adds up.

Thanks for the reply JP. I’ll have to grab my preference files and put them on dropbox for when syncing inevitably doesn’t work again.
As for uploading or downloading setting when syncing you can set your preferences for that in the PPro Preferences under Sync Settings. I keep the ‘When syncing‘ drop down set to ‘Ask my preference‘ and am always presented with a dialogue box asking whether I want to Upload or Download. Alternatively you can set the ‘When syncing‘ preference to ‘Always upload‘ or ‘Always download‘.
It’s a shame this isn’t working because I customize the crap out of my keyboard and it takes me forever to get it back to where I like it. It’s a cool feature when it works 🙁
