Which version of Vegas? Camtasia?
We use Camtasia 4, 5, 6 every day with Vegas 8 and 9.
Use the techsmith codec for best results.

If it’s progressive, you need merely to render to an interlaced format. Use any of the avi or most of the mpeg templates and it will convert your progressive frames to interlaced frames.

Why AVI? What is the delivery device? Which AVI codec are you choosing?
You say it’s “selected before you render.” How are you selecting? With a loop region?

The “remove timecode” script is for removing the window burn, not actually stripping T/C from the file.
You’d need to offset the file at the beginning of the recording, as Vegas generates T/C for analog incoming files. Essentially, it’s the same as recording from a zeroed camcorder.Douglas Spotted Eagle

you have a Helix or other streaming server? Otherwise, it won’t stream, it’s a download. MP4 on a bit-for-bit comparison outperforms WMV at higher bitrates, but WMV is streamable from most any ISP.

Perhaps you could transcode the FRAPS to a more edit friendly, less CPU intensive codec such as mxf.

Volume envelopes from other projects won’t come across if it’s spanning several projects. You’ll need to insert a master volume envelope for the various .veg projects you’ve nested.

Various codec paks are one of the worst things you can do, as they can blow away “good” settings and codecs that Vegas (and other apps) register/read.
