  • It depends on how much coin you wish to drop.

If you had a shared storage enviroment you could put your project folder on an external workspace and then point to it from any PC. This is much better than having to move the project folder and media.

If you don’t drop the coin then I would suggest a (non avid solution) network share or an external firewire drive. This would allow you to move easily but would require some consolidation if you wanted the media to remain on more than one PC at a time.

Have you recently installed any new drivers for Anything in your computer or maybe downloaded windows update etc? IRQ are generally assigned by windows you could go into your bios and disable anything your are not using like your printer port, game controller etc. it might help free up IRQ and could clear up a conflict. Make sure you machine has enough space on the hard drive, clean up your temporary files and do a defrag of your hard drive. Also try creating a new user and project. If no joy I would un-install and re-install all avid stuff rebooting inbetween or when it tells you to, if that does not do the trick then I would blow every out and re-install windows.
    My 2 cents.
    Good luck.

    Hey,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Have had a chance to play with it since posting and it is working well for a cheaper alternative to say an HP8200 Intel machine.

I am only using a single dual core processor on an Nforce 4 board and an Nvidia 7900gt with 2 gig of RAM. Animated DVE Marquee titles are rendering very fast which is nice. multi nested video tracks with Boris effects are flying. Every thing else thus far is problem free. As a side note I am running Windows XP pro 32bit. I built this machine as a home editor and wanted an all rounder that would also be able to play games.

Michael IP, What motherboard are you running your 2x dual Opterons on?

    Thanks

I have re-installed News Cutter starting with the Sentinal driver first and all went o.k. I was a little concerned because I have not seen this before and it was my first aVID install on an AMD 64 bit client.

    Thanks for your answer

Might want to try creating a new user account and also a new project adjust toolset to your liking and see if behaviour continues.

    1) How do you duplicate the clip? a: CTRL D to dupe, CTRL Y or U will give you a second layer of video, can’t remeber which, one is video the other audio. patch V1 to V2.

    2) How do I proceed to make the animatte? a: paste duped clip on second video layer an apply animate effect. Select the area you wish to change by using any number of animate tools. Then color correct.

My guess is this procedure works better when the camera is static, or the borders might be visible a: static = less work indeed.

Are you using a shared storage solution such as Unity or lan share?
If so make sure you have at least one workspace mounted on your shared storage.

    Also ctrl + 5
will typically open your media creation settings, you can change your drive filtering by system/launch and resolution.

    Hope this helps?
