Eh, I’m not sure exactly. I’ve never had any problems with permission before I reinstalled though.
How can I see if my permissions for XP are set properly?

If it turns out the Windows XP permissions are not set right how do I go about fixing it?

I’m running on a Packard Bell laptop with Windows XP Professional SP2, Pentium 4 3,06 GHz, 2048MB RAM, Nvidia GeForce FX 5100 128MB.

So it’s nothing great, but it should be able to run Avid shouldn’t it? (it’s worked fine for almost a year until recently)

I’ve read many posts about unqualified systems working great, then crapping the bed. It looks like yours is OK, except for the laptop…

However, recently things have gone from bad to worse…

I tried to capture again and I did manage to get some hours of material in, but after a while the screen just turned blue and was filled with a Windows error message something along the lines of:

A problem is discovered and Windows is shut down to avoid damage to the computer. etc. etc.

The bottom of the page showed this technical information:

Starts dumping physical memory.

Does anyone know what this means? I’m in real trouble here…

So I’ve tried capturing again. One small clip (6min) got in ok, but when I tried capturing a longer one my computer crashed again and the blue screen showd with this new error message:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Technical information:

Does anyone know what this means? Is it still referring to the sound card driver or what?

Have you recently installed any new drivers for Anything in your computer or maybe downloaded windows update etc? IRQ are generally assigned by windows you could go into your bios and disable anything your are not using like your printer port, game controller etc. it might help free up IRQ and could clear up a conflict. Make sure you machine has enough space on the hard drive, clean up your temporary files and do a defrag of your hard drive. Also try creating a new user and project. If no joy I would un-install and re-install all avid stuff rebooting inbetween or when it tells you to, if that does not do the trick then I would blow every out and re-install windows.
