July 13, 2006 at 10:15 pmI run AVID express pro HD on a dual core 64 AMD athlon without a hitch. Had to upgrade the video card though. The system runs better than my dual pentium 4 at my office. Very clean.

July 14, 2006 at 12:49 amYou just can’t use Windows XP 64-bit version yet.
Also – you’ll need to watch which version of Avid you have (assuming Avid Xpress Pro here) – several versions have a codec issue with AMD processors which means that footage after it has had an effect applied to it will exhibit green lines all over the frame.
There is a work around in using an older codec pack (making HDV compatibility zero).
Hoever, the latest version of Xpress Pro (5.5.1) may have solved the AMD/green line issue. I’d check on the Avid forums. As well as the spec. You may well need a better/different graphics card as everything is now driven by Open GL.
