Which codec are you using for export? H.264 can cause washed out colors. Try exporting the quicktime with the Animation codec or Photo-JPEG.

Did you delete the backgrounds in the pre-comps completely? If not, do so since you don’t need them if you are placing it into the main comp which has your desired background. Changing the blend mode to lighten didn’t do anything?
You could send me the project file together with the images (I assume they are AI-vectors), if this is an option for you just say so?
Another try: go into the pre-comps where your images/vectors are placed, select one of them and thenn auto-trace them (let the auto-tracer make a new solid instead of applying the masks to the original layer) and use the solids+masks instead of the vectors/images.
I hope it helps

There are no limits I can remember, at least not in the size you are talking about. I already worked on 32000*1500 comps in AE without problems (if the system is set up properly! Which means a lot of problems).
Make sure you don’t havbe some 2D layers (i.e. Adjustment layers) between the lights and the 3D layers which should cast/accept the lights and shadows, because the 2D layers act like “dividers” (sorry, forgot the right term).
Sorry, I can’t think of more to help you
EDIT: OK, I was too slow 😉

Since nobody answered yet could you make a screenshot of the skewing you mentioned? I can’t imagine how it looks like.
By the way digital zooms are never good, doesn’t it look horrible?

Something like this?
2 Examples, one with 10 Particles/sec the other one with 100 Particles/sec.
Negative aspect: You need one seperate layer for each particle flow.Dino Muhic – Media Producer

I was waiting to see, if somebody will come up with a right answer for you since I was also curious if something like this is possible. I know Particular very good by now and I never saw an option like this although, when you think about it, it somehow make’s absolute sense to have it.
I scrubbed thru all the presets and none of them had the look you were looking for.I’m only speculating, because I didn’t try this but just thinkging about it, but how about you try to make your particles follow a motion path (which is possible) and just adjust the velocity and spread.
Don’t use the AUX system. This way your heading particle will stay straight on its path while the particles right behind him start to move outside the path.I’ll try this later and provide you with some screenshots if it works. I did something similar a while ago for Skoda. I had to simulate Paintflows and combined Particular with the CC Time Blend FX effect for it.
By the way, there’s also a Trapcode forum at the cow and there are also other Particle Plug-ins like CC Particle World, Particle Illusion (sp?) and others but I don’t know them good enough to provide you with some input.
Cheers

Hi Sarah
Do you have the green background layer in your pre-comps (1-6), too?
You should make this pre-comps without a backgroundlayer and place them into the main comp.
It looks like they are just placed over each other but because all of them have the same backgroundcolor it looks like it’s cut. 😉Or just use the Lighter blend mode in your main comp for all pre-comps, then it should go away.
If I’m wrong check if the layers are all at the same z-position, since they are all switched to 3D.
Many layers at the same z-position can cause flickering or other problems.I could be wrong thou.
Already did a restart? Always helpful with weird AE problems…Dino Muhic – Media Producer
