With “3D Stroke” from Trapcode Plug-Ins you can make a…what else…3D Stroke as an outline of a layermask.
This gives an even more realistic look because you can also use the 3D camera.
I would prefer this, together with a glow effect and some lightsources for realistic reflactions on the wall.

But first try to find a sutable font and use this for the 3D Stroke or make an own sign.

    I hope i could help

Well, yeah, I think its possible with AE but I’m not professional enough to tell you how.

What I would say is, that I don’t think this would be great to do with particular but with the lightning effects AE has (or try the ones from the Gen-Arts Sapphire Plugins) in combo with a write-on effect or masking to get the lightning into the position and movement you want.

Perhaps you should try these effects first and play a bit with them. Once you know all the Effects and Actions AE can do, you sure can think up some ways to achieve this.

The 16:9 is not bigger, the program just scales the 4:3 footage down to match the 16:9 height. But if you scale it back to fit the 4:3 width to the 16:9 width there still won’t be a quality loss….

So why not make a 16:9, import the 4:3 footage and scale it so it matches the width of the 16:9 footage?

Since you loose quality when you resize your stuff (for example scaling up the 16:9 material to fit 4:3) you should consider adding black bars on the 4:3 material to make them fit 16:9 or start with a 16:9 comp and import the 4:3 material as well as the 16:9 meterial and make a 16:9 clip (this means fitting the 4:3 stuff to the size of the 16:9 and loosing filmed areas on top and the bottom, but still i would prefer this version).

Just use the Time Stretch by right-clicking the layer and choose time–> time stretch…

Or look up time stretch in the help….

I searched for a similar effect (the wiggler-effect in Requiem for a Dream when the two main characters are in jail) and what I found was a really good Plug-In for AE.

Its part of the Sapphire Plugins and it’s called Shake.

    Try it here: https://www.genarts.com/sapphire-ae.html

It makes really good shaking effects, also with great motion blur.

  • Yeah, I think I’ll use the footage several times at the stage and postition them exactly like the dots in the logo. Then I’ll enable the movie clips into 3D and pull the camera back until the movies are as small as the dots. For the time offset the sequence layers method is great. Just have to loop the footage several times so it doesn’t quit playing when the movie is still running.

I’m just afraid that something terrible could happen with my Laptop while producing, because there have to be about 250 layers in the movie (for each dot in the logo one time the movie). Can this damage my laptop or does it just take more time (time doesn’t matter)?

Or is there a way to do it faster and without to position every movie like the dots in the logo?

Is there a fast way to make something like a GRID-Structure with the movie, lets say 50 Rows and 40 Collums? and then just turning on and off the movies i need? This way would be great, because I could also use other figures displayed by the dots…

    Can you help me….again?

I’m a professional in Photoshop, for every help you give me I can help you in PS…

  • Hmm….sounds easier than myleniums version. Thank you very much! Both of you!
But first I have to look what the sequence layers tool is….I’m still learning AE.

I forgot to mention, that the logo of the university is a EPS-File for Adobe Illustrator and I can import all shapes from Illustrator to AE if I want to.
I tried to use the paths of the logo as a mask but I still don’t have a clue how to go on with this.
I think it also has to be in a 3D-Area because of the motion the layers have when they are moving away from the camera.

I’ll search now for some material about the sequence layer stuff

Thank you and if you have more suggestions, please write them!
