How to create DV dropouts?
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to create DV-dropouts in After effects. Usually you wouldn’t want any, but I’m working on a short film that actually needs to have dropouts at certain points…
Any help would be appreciated!!

That’s actually a good question 🙂
It looks a bit like a dropout on digital Betacam, but with bigger ‘blocks’ (not sure if that’s the official technical term). Then in my experience the color is often messed up, some parts of the image freeze for a second or so… And while I’m typing this I’m realizing two things:
1: I gotta check a corrupted tape to specify my needs (not at the office right now, so I’ll get on that later…)
and 2: While describing the dropout, I’m starting to realize that it’s actually really simple to create (just the block, freezes and color…).
Will work on that tomorrow, and I’ll keep you posted, sorry for wasting anyone’s time! (and thanx Dave, for asking me an obvious question that opened my eyes!).

Thanx Chris, just downloaded the trail, looks like it’s gonna do exactly what I need! That’s going to be the best 100 bucks spend on this project!
