If you can use the Apple Pro Rez HQ codec available in FCP6. You’ll encode HD at around 220mb/s(less than SD 10bit uncompressed1) and from tests i’ve done its a completely LOSSLESS 10 bit 4:2:2 codec.

might just be a sync issue also. is your dbc on input reference? and is there any signal on the input side of the card. simple sync issues can cause issues like that. dead patch the input side of the card and throw the dbc on input ref. its worth a try..

lovely blackmagic. in short reinstall decklink 6.4. i just solved this issue i upgraded to dl 6.6.2 and all went to hell, the firmware update screwed up my rs422 (osx10.4.11 on an apple duo core pcie, fcp6.02, decklink hd pro). i down graded to 6.5.x (didnt work) but 6.4 (with older firmware) seems to be a stable platform with our D5 and hdcamsr.

blackmagic keeps you on your toe’s..

SD just displays as 2x (which is still smaller than hd). My next step would be to find out if its the hdlink box or the monitor. Or maybe the hdlink doesnt like the monitor (refresh rate?). Take the hd link back and get a new one it might just be broken or have a bad firmware load, because it should just work.

ps.. i dont ever remember setting the monitor up on the mac before install of hd link, the hdlink is literally the video card (HDSDI to DVI).. Can your monitor handle what the hd link is asking it to do. 1920×1080 48i (23.98psf), 50i etc. check the Monitor specs..

hmm.. the hdlink will automatically switch between hd/sd. it wouldnt be unheard of that you got a bad box from bm, maybe try a firmware update on the box. my hdlink has always needed to be played with to get it to work and then it works for a while just fine.
