My next job is editing on a system at my clients office. Ultimate output is 1080p @ 24FPS Quicktime file. The system is a IntelMac with a Blackmagic Extreme and a SCSI drive and connection. We will be going from 35mm to HDCAM. I want to be able to digitize at 24fps off the HDCAM deck at offline res. in a 16×9 aspect ratio. There’s too much source footage to digitze at full res. 1080p.

    Any suggetions????

This system has a Blackmagic Multi Bridge on it. So still the question is what is the best offline setup for this if I’m ultimately going to finish on this system at 1080p Quicktime file format?

If you can use the Apple Pro Rez HQ codec available in FCP6. You’ll encode HD at around 220mb/s(less than SD 10bit uncompressed1) and from tests i’ve done its a completely LOSSLESS 10 bit 4:2:2 codec.
