You can up convert the video minus title’s(generic) and add the titles to the HD project. your source vid will be soft but the titles will look good.. might fool some people..

January 30, 2008 at 10:39 pm in reply to: 23.98 720p with 29.97 NTSC mastering to 720p 59.94i’d just Deinterlace the NTSC footage before input into the FCP project(jes deinterlacer works good and its freeware).. who knows which frames final cut will decide to use. this way you can ensure fcp not to pick the frames with a pull down. on the JES Deinterlacer note, JES will remove a pull down with a broken cadence and hopefully bring the NTSC footage back to 23.98 .. That way you can edit in 23.98..
yes Graphics in 23.98del

hmmm. DBC is an interlaced format wich by its nature can have different images on f1 than on f2, thats the nature of the beast. i’d guess unless the footage was shot progressively ie HD 1080p25/720p50 and Down converted to PAL the footage may be interlaced, unless its a SloPal transfer but that would be from a NTSC source. In FCP the viewer doesnt show you fields it only shows you frames, but outputs interlaced video. And premire might just be outputting Frames instead of fields..

Sound like a sync issue. Make sure the DBC is on “input ref” and daed patch the input to the BM card..

Black Magic Please Respond!! This has been an ongoing issue for me to.!! I’m simply capturing on a mac with a decklink card HD/SD and moving the file to our PC Render farm (Rhozet) and I have to fight to get proper gamma out..

“It works, but it is not the same thing as Remote Desktop for PC. Depending on connection speed it may be very, very sluggish. I use it all the time to kick off renders and things like that but I don’t think I could edit in it across a slow connection.”
ditto, i have a vpn for ARD but its still slow kinda like a computer time warp to the mid 90’s.

January 8, 2008 at 2:27 am in reply to: final cut export of Decklink Quicktimes turn greenishi might be out on a limb here but.. dv video is sampled with mainly green (y) then the other 2 channels are sampled 4x less red-y and blue-y. so you got alot of green in the video to start with. so if you export back to dv you have even more green 4:2:0 or 4:1:1..? try an RGB codec animation, photo jpeg or even a 4:2:2 8/10 bit codec and see if it gets better. send me a sample..
