Intermittent output from Decklink card
I have a Decklink Extreme PCIe SD card in a Quad G5 2.5Ghz Mac with 4GB RAM, ATTO UL5D SCSI. SDI connected to SD monitor and patched to Sony DVW-A500P Digi Beta deck. Decklink SPDIF audio connected to Flying Cow analog converter, then to powered speakers.
Since purchase the audio and video output has occasionally dropped out – audio mutes and picture turns to noise. Wiggling the Decklink cable at the card-end connector generally fixed the problem. Over the past 3 months the problem has greatly increased in frequency to the point where the system is barely usable now – picture and audio are almost impossible to keep stable.
It seems logical that this is either a problem with the Decklink card itself or the breakout cable. Any suggestions of what my options are, other than throw it out and buy a new one? Is there a cable replacement option or something? I’ve posted Support Requests on the Blackmagic site but as yet have had no response.
