Yes BM, do it. Half of the broadcaster’s domestically broadcast 720p59 (fox,abc,espn etc), now as far as 720p50 i know its in the spec but not sure if its being broadcast internationally. Anyways Cross conversions from 1080i to 720p (and viseversa)would be awesome other wise at this point we are stuck with HDCamSR or a Teranex solution. What would be nice also is if you could Keep the VANC intact during the Cross Conversion..

hmm PB doesnt let any video pass through the tape deck, EE (electronic to electronic) opens the gate (so to say) on the tape deck.

After Effects is probably the best way to go. Never liked the motion comp (or lack there of) out of quicktime..

i believe the 16 channels is emmbedded audio only. but that is just part of the spec. funny cause even the hdcamsr only has 12 ch..

i’d bet its the Black Magic Driver 6.6.x..! That firmware update wreaked rs422 contol hell on one of my 4 mac’s. Back off to 6.4 and see if it acts better, hopefully less like an old bipolar girlfriend…..

Are you outputing the correct rs422 code? if you are frame converting from 23.98 to 59.94 etc you have to set the rs422 to out put 24f or 30f code.. i have also had serious control issues on some macs with the current 6.6x decklink driver’s yet 6.4 works fine.

dd if you listen to it without decode is just horrible white noise at near 0db (digital). I would wonder if the BM hardware is corrupting the stream then.

Blackmagic again, whats your stance. Unfortunatley it seems when they don’t have an answer they simply ignore the problem..?

might it be that dv codec has half the color of other codecs. RGB is 4:4:4 Digibeta is 4:2:2 and dv is 4:1:1 or 4:2:0 (depends i guess on who makes it). this might not apply to AI but in after effect you can cheat more vibrant colors by changing the composition from normal 8bit comp to a 32bit comp then rendering the file back to 8bit. this might give you the values you need..

you maybe taxing the cpu..?? pcm audio is alot easier to decode than h.264 and may explain why the audio is file yet the video is having problems. try h.264 with aac audio, that ways its all mpeg. and try 2 different uncompressed codecs like Animation for video and Pcm audio.. a little rnd never hurts..
