Best way to mater 720p -> 576i
As we all know, Blackmagic is struggling with 720p support for some reason.
I have a documentary, all ready to master, that was shot & finished 720p.
How do I get this program out at master quality, for supply on digi-beta?Changing the monitoring settings in FCP result in an image, but it’s preview quality only.
The HD->SD down-conversion offered by the Multibridge preferences only work for 1080i.The only solution I can come up with that produces good results is to export the documentary as a QuickTime, import to After Effects and render out at 576i. I can’t do this in FCP because it just doesn’t do it well… line flicker issues, aliasing…. eek… yes my sequence is on best quality everything. That said it’s a pain in the butt just trying to get FCP to export this as a QT file… continually crashing when I try.
Any suggestions?

After Effects is probably the best way to go. Never liked the motion comp (or lack there of) out of quicktime..

Yes BM, do it. Half of the broadcaster’s domestically broadcast 720p59 (fox,abc,espn etc), now as far as 720p50 i know its in the spec but not sure if its being broadcast internationally. Anyways Cross conversions from 1080i to 720p (and viseversa)would be awesome other wise at this point we are stuck with HDCamSR or a Teranex solution. What would be nice also is if you could Keep the VANC intact during the Cross Conversion..
