I’m a bit stumped… I had to upgrade my card with my new MacPro. I used the same breakout cable because it looks identical. Captured some 8bit off my Sony 1400a and to my surprise shows 16 channels of audio! Only 1 and 2 have audio and the rest are blank. Any suggestions? Also, I’m getting a feedback loop when I eject the tape while in capture mode. Strange because I have not changed any cable connections. Any ideas are appreciated.

I got the 16 channels turned of but the feedback loop is still an issue. Both audio in and out is directly connected to the deck. No mixer.

i believe the 16 channels is emmbedded audio only. but that is just part of the spec. funny cause even the hdcamsr only has 12 ch..

Looking at BM’s support page, there is something about “Audio channels fail to activate or deactivate in Final Cut Pro”. (This is what I think it is doing.) SInce my deck is a 1400a and uses RS-232, the Audio Mapping option under Device Control Preset menu (Final Cut Pro) shows that option is grayed out.

This issue blows me away because I didn’t have this issue with the older setup (SP card and a G4).

    Michael,

Somewhere in your settings in the 1400 there will be a setting for something like ‘Auto EE’ – this should be set to off. If it’s on when you eject a tape this is exactly what happens as the deck has an ‘open circuit’ for the audio path.

Found it on the menu… when I set it from EE to PB the screen goes black and I can’t monitor off my NTSC Monitor which is hooked up to the deck. Why do you think it is doing this now after all those years with basically the exact same setup?

hmm PB doesnt let any video pass through the tape deck, EE (electronic to electronic) opens the gate (so to say) on the tape deck.
