HDV doesn’t work like that as it is a MPEG 2 long GOP there are only 2 real frames for every second of video
it is very processor intensive and as such can’t be monitored via FW as you wish
a AJA card would offload the processing of the HDV signal and would allow you to monitor the video in realtime like the others said

altho I don’t have a ACD here I have used them before
I have no trouble with the sharpness, unless the one I have connected VIA VGA (the DVI port is for the SDI converter) doesn’t auto adjust when it starts up
then I just need to cycle the input and it auto adjusts.
Sharp as a tack
I don’t get headachs any more
displays are nice and bright
and no pink tinging (all the 23″s I have see have the pinkness)

and Shane I don’t see any of the red in the B/W images where do you see that?

NO USB 2 will NOT work reliably as it doesn’t have fast enough sustained thoughput
use firewire

I am using the XDCAM HD up here
I go HDSDI from the record deck though my Kona LHe card into DVCPRO HD codec
if you want to edit nativly you need to shoot with the SP mode NOT the HQ mode as that is all Apple and Sony are supporting when they release the ingest program

we had shot in the HQ mode (you will notice a difference) so even if the native solutions where out now it wouldn’t have mattered

OH I found it (sorry I didn’t get back to ya)
did the edit

after a couple of clips I was running into no end of trouble
long frames where EVERYWHERE over 1050 1.25 frames 600 2.5’s and 6 3.75’s (plus it would take forever to capture as it would start to capture then go back and start again)

anyway
now using DVCPRO HD compressor (doesn’t look as good but there are no long frames at least)

Very silly question

why do you want to convert from 25 to 24 and back to 25

there would be little difference
and a degradation as it would be a couple of generation’s of renders
and a major waste of time

you have the “film look” already with shooting in PAL

only one I can find it the AJA LHe enabler in the Application support plugin folder
