it has a compatable plate for the 501 503 head (which is what I use on my tripods and other supports)

you will get better proformance with the 9800 128 MB card in a G4 then the 5200 in a G5
I am running a MDD dual 1.25 with the 9800 ‘Mac addition’

when a card is listed on the Apple site it means, generally, all card in that model range so ALL 9800’s will work

you could also get a 9600 and modify it to work in the G4 and it will still be better then the 5200

Becuase for the price point Apple offers FCP at many new people who haven’t been editing for more than a year can use the same system to edit home movies as many commercials, music videos, docs, series and stations are using at this point
many of the problems are improperly configured systems or just plain user error

yes there are some actual problems but many people don’t read the manual or know how to search the forum here

FCP has been running smoother on Tiger on my G4 dual 1.25
MOTION is way faster now (not that it was slow before as I use a 9800)
the new audio filters with Tiger are great

I did a clean install on a fresh drive and reinstalled all the pro apps, took maybe 3 hours total
everything is running great

I have been running FCP 4.5 Motion ST etc. on Tiger since the 29th without any problems
Actually they seem to be running faster (not that they were slow before)
Mail is cool and Safari seems smoother

but hey that is just me (and a lot of other users as well)

Soundtrack Pro and the Control surface support both in FCP and Soundtrack look GREAT
also Midi in Motion 2 looks AMAZING

here is a little tip that works VERY well using the built in audio filters in FCP

apply a Parametric EQ from the Apple Audio filters (the filter is AUParametricEQ) to the clip in the timeline then load the clip into the viewer

then push the gain to full in the settings for the effect and put the Q to 20 (makes a very narrow LOUD spike in the audio)

then play the clip and adjust the CENTRE FREQ. till you hear the noise get louder adjust the Q (the width of the FREQUENCIES you are affecting) so your just affecting the noise then drop the gain to -20 should get rid if it
this works great at removing specific frequency sound like Hums static wind and fans
you might need to apply it a couple of times
