that works
for the general XDCAM (DVCAM on a disk, Standard def, the version that has been out for a couple of years now)
it does not do the XDCAM HD (at least as far as I know from checking there site) from what I heard at NAB, they are working on one
I don’t know how long it will be but I heard it is around $500 as wellIF you can get the footage from the deck
when Sony release’s the logging programAFAIK

OH ya
we got the first one’s up here is Toronto for the feature we are working onNO you will need a file transfer program from Sony (no known release date) to capture ONLY the HDV version of the footage (the 25 mb signal not the better 35 mb signal) to be able to use the footage in a future version of FCP that isn’t released yet (no know release date)
you could do what I am doing and going into FCP over HDSDI (best way at this point, you don’t have to deal with the mpeg2 compression other then at the source)
to get the fottage in when the “options” happen you would need the camera or the deck as the feeder no other disk readers options

April 18, 2006 at 1:28 pm in reply to: XDcam HD frame rate conundrum for multi format outputOK change in plans
audio guy wants to shoot with a 744T NOT connected to the camera at all
SOOO
if we are shooting in 23.98 would it not be better from the audio to be recorded in that frame rate as well?the 744T has adjustable frame rate’s from 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97DF, 29.97ND, 30DF, 30ND;
this is so confusing now

April 16, 2006 at 6:55 am in reply to: XDcam HD frame rate conundrum for multi format outputcool if you are going NAB it would be great to meet ya (you going to the cow leader breakfast?)
as for the 60i over SDI that is what the rep said
but he was also saying a lot of other stuff that didn’t make sense as well (don’t know if he did demos all the time but he didn’t know much it seemed)it is hard to find the manual online right now or find people who know a fair bit about the camera as it is such a new system
the Sony web site doesn’t have much info about posting it on other systems then there own or about the frame rate’s and suchARRRGGG love and hate new formats

April 16, 2006 at 5:51 am in reply to: XDcam HD frame rate conundrum for multi format outputok hmmm isn’t it 60i off the HD SDI if you shot in 23.98 (that is what a Sony rep said at a seminar I went to last week about the F350, that the SDI outputs are 60i)
ok so if the camera or deck can output the 23.98 out the HD SDI they I can capture the video via the decklink to 23.98
hmmm well that is betterI THINK they producer & director will just want it letter boxed (I HOPE)
uhhh eeek there is no money for sync sound we are going right into the camera from the mixer
Hey you going to NAB? we can chat a little more then if that would be better (or you can shoot me an email)

I use CF all the time, GREAT color correction plugin for FCP
there was some problems but since 4.5 and the last few CF updates it ROCKSI would try out the demo from SA again
Hey Dave re you comment
Final Touch is dedicated grading software, but I would recomend setting up a system because it is hardware dependent (video card) but it costs less than AE + CF and it wil be faster in the long run.you think FT and a dedicated system would be cheaper then CF ? the SD version of the plugin costs $1K alone without the “dedicated system” you recommend. to correct HD clips you need to shell out $5K (CF works with whatever you are using in you TL, HD or SD or whatever)
(BTW you don’t need AE to run CF works fine in FCP)CF ROCKS
(sorry Dave had to stick up for CF, see you at the meeting on Tuesday?)
