    Hi Walter
I checked out the suggested threads, but no-one seems to be talking about a hardware solution?

Has anyone heard of any hardware out there that can convert a video signal to a flash file in realtime? I’ve got 100’s of hours to convert and when I tested it using Compressor it was a 10:1 ratio – that’s a lot of time! There must be an equivalent to a PAL to NTSC standards convertor out there?
    All suggestions gratefully received!

    Thanks

Also worth noting that the TIFF files you are using are designed for Print, which uses a YMCK colourspace, so you would be better to convert to TGA or PICT which use RGB. I found it made a difference to the image quality.

I found using Stibs Colouriser 2.4 (a free plugin) and pushing the rgb film curves around can produce a pleasing grungy green tone while still retaining some natural colour. Combined with some film grain from Paul Crisp (another freebe) this gives you a great urban look.

October 11, 2007 at 4:49 pm in reply to: Missing render file fix yet?

    Hi Jeremy
Thanks for the link which was helpful. I have also been having issues with sequences which have never been duplicated, and found today that by going back to the last autosaved project I could recover the render files. It’s very strange, cos while I can open the project from the autosave vault and FCP will see the render files, but when from the project which has lost them I try to relink the files FCP will not let me?
Ho Hum – hope Apple figure it out!
    Many thanks

September 19, 2007 at 2:23 pm in reply to: Urgent Help!! PAL footage in a USA studio!

    Hi Dave
Thanks for coming back to me.
We are broadcasting from here in NTSC so it’s just my PAL inserts which are the issue.
I think I may have cracked it. I was trying to output to a standards convertor, but I discoved that the AJA IO box was set to NTSC, now this has been changed to PAL, we’ve got a PAL timeline playing to a standards convertor and converting to NTSC onto the NTSC deck. Jobs a good un! (AS we say where I come from!)
    Many thanks
    David

To get back to original question! …we’ve always called it a Sting, and the Station Ident airs between the programmes.

    Hi Ben
I’m running an XServe with 2.5TB of which I’m using 1.5TB.
Thought about re-digitizing at a lower rez, but it took 2 days to capture the media!
    The XServe should cope?

    David
