Back to the original sync issue…
A little obvious maybe but have you checked that the sequence and media both have the same audio settings – ie 24bit at 48hz?

    Thanks Guys,
    As I feared!
I have managed to use the JSM settings application to give some degree of control to the shuttle, but the jog is as you say, only single step with no speed change. It’s a shame cos it’s a great idea….

November 25, 2008 at 4:49 pm in reply to: sequence settings, mono vs. stereo

    Hi Jon
If you look at your clip and sequence settings in the browser you will find that they are different. You need to set your sequence to match your footage… for example check if they are both 48KHz 24bit.

    November 25, 2008 at 11:02 am in reply to: 16:9 and 4:3 co-existing

    HI Sue
I always set up a 16:9 timeline and then resize the 4:3 footage on it. That way I can pan and scan, and adjust for headroom etc.
You will notice a definate difference in quality, so it may work giving it a “treatment” and pretenting it should be like that!

    Hi Brad
We follow the BBC convention as are also UK based.
I would suggest contacting the broadcaster you are dealing with and ask them for their spec sheet. That way as Walter says, you can give them exactly what they want – Bars, Tone, Levels, Start Time, etc….

    Hi Adam
We’ve just installed a new 12TB “Promise” drive which Apple recommends and so far it’s running well, although it does required connection to management software on a PC – not a problem for us as we run a few different servers but you may want to check out with a supplier if you consider it.

Thanks for your comment. I’ve found someone who can build me a hardware encoder for £8000 that’s currently under consideration, but it is a bit pricey!

July 5, 2008 at 11:52 pm in reply to: audio from Protools goes out of sync

    Hi Stephen
Try checking that the bit rate is the same, ideally you should both be working 24bit audio. Pull down the sequence menu, select settings, and check that your audio rate is 24bit at 48hz. The AIFF from Protools should have the same settings (which you can check in your browser). If they are different, remove the audio from the sequence, change the sequence settings to match it, then put it back on – that should fix it.
    Hope that works
    God bless
