Hi Jerry
Sorry – a little rude of me not to come straight back to you!
But thanks for your comments, it seems chatting around, that many are going down this route rather than hard copies on DVD.David Scott,

Hi Mark
We are using a 12TB Promise Raid – nice big beast!
And usually capture 8 camera angles from Beta SP tape to 8bit uncompressed. Tis time the files will arive on drives as HD and I’m wondering if the system will cope with that many streams and size of media?David Scott,

Hi Tom
We’ll be capturing from Beta SP tapes to either 8bit Uncompressed or ProRes 422 (yet to be decided as we still have some G5’s).
So you’re saying that the FCE project will carrying the TC info on each clip even though it’s not accually displayed?
Then as long as our high and low rez copies of the media have matching TC we can simply use the “reconnect media” comand in FCP to do the online edit? Thanks

Hi Guys
We were considering Pro Res as an option so thats great to see others have also gone that route!!!
We film a lot of multicamera outside broadcasts and thought the AJA Ki Pro looked an interesting alternative to tape….?Thanks for your comments – very helpful!

Hi David
Great idea!
Wondered if you’d seen the inspirational “making of” video at:
https://the88.net/love.htmIndie band “The 88″ use the iphone to record their next single!!!
Lots of fun using a recording app called”Fourtrack”.
Could inspire some interesting ideas for shooting and editing video on it…. hey what about a FCP iphone app….!!! LOLEnjoy,

Brilliant thanks Walter. Makes perfect sense when you say it!!
I’ll copy the sequences to one project and do as you suggest.
Many thanks

Hi
A further intersting point….
When exporting a still I noticed a slight change in the highest luma values, with them being slightly clipped, even though they were broadcast safe on my external scope. So I found that exporting 1 frame as a QT and then re-importing it and puting it on the timeline with a speed of 0 worked a treat!!
However still very interested to know why the FCP freeze frame loses filters if anyone does have any insight…

Hi Jason
Yes the export option works fine – just takes longer!
It’s very strange as you can make a Freeze Frame (shift N) from the start of the clip at any point up to about 1/3 of the way along and it keeps the filter effects but then past that point to the end it losses the filter information!
