I’ve gone to the mat with many frustrated users of mutlicamera. These changes in the display output seem to be spontaneous and unexplained.

All I know is that multicamera works but it gets messed up every now and then due (AFAICT) to two things: It just stops working and there’s a likely unknown keyboard shortcut that changes the display from all-up to selected. Dunno, can’t find it.

The other two things I know are that when my displays go wonky, a simple restart usually cures it or I close the clips and close the sequences and open everything from a blank slate.

Rebuilding your system drive is a dangerous and last ditch effort and there is no reason to presume it will solve your FCP problems.

You don’t want to back up pieces of your drive like this. You want a clone of your drive made to a similarly sized hard drive. Carbon Copy Cloner is free at versiontracker.com

The toss all of the FCP pieces from the clone.

I have read and re-read your post five or more times and I have absolutely no idea what you mean.

Mutlicamera works fine for most of us. This is not to suggest you’re an idiot, it just means you are experiencing a problem the rest of us have not had to deal with.

First, when I use mutliclip, each camera is called an angle. I caputre them according to the manual using an angle assignment so they come into the multicamera clip automatically.
Second, you shouldn’t be using switch at all, you should be using the cut commands. Huge difference.

Feet and frames might be possible but where would the reference signal come from? Is there keycode or edge code available on a track or is it to be arbitrary?

    > capture using preset calendar day and time of day, much like a VCR, and then edit in FCP ?< Do you mean you want to log that information from existing clips or do you mean you want to program FCP like a VCR? bogiesan This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Allow me to add that the illusion of reversed video is complicated by the fact that image smear from shutter speed and field interlace and the physics, the ballistic movement, have all been been recorded in a normal forward direction.

Adding lighting effects to moving 3D scenes for which you do not have camera movement data is tedious but fun. Suggest you go out and buy Trish and Chris Meyer’s books and Angie Taylor’s new book, CREATIVE AFTER EFFECTS 7.

You will find it’s extremely easy to add the lighting elements and to make them track but it is supremely difficult to add shadows and highlights convincingly to a flat scene since the strteet planes and sides of the buildings are not available as masks. You must hand draw them.

“Realism” is relative to the time and money you can spend. Your production team decided they did not want to spend time and money installing practical and motivational lighting in their model so now you have to spend those resources in post production. If lighting wasn’t in the pre-production planning stages, why has it shown up now as a problem? See if you can get the model buildiners to put in lights and then reshoot it.

My advice? Forget it. Spend your money on other aspects of the production first. Then go back and see what’s left to spend on enhancing your models.
