I did a search and couldn’t find a clear description in how to do this.

I have a video clip I want to reverse. But people have told me that the field order needs to be switched or else the video will playback with a slight chopiness to it.

    1) How do I use Time Remap to reverse the footage?
    2) How do I switch the field order?
    3) Instead of switching fields, would shifting the video 1 pixel up or down work? I don’t have a video monitor attached to my computer 🙁

    1. No need. Layer>time>time-reverse layer.
    2. File>interpret footage>main. Change upper to lower, or vice-versa.
    3. Only on render. If you drop a movie into a 59.94 fps comp, you won’t see field reversal by bumping up or down (I just tried it). The effect is only seen when rendering with fields.

Most of us here would recommend you get a TV as soon as possible — hook your camcorder to the computer, then hook the TV to the camcorder.

Allow me to add that the illusion of reversed video is complicated by the fact that image smear from shutter speed and field interlace and the physics, the ballistic movement, have all been been recorded in a normal forward direction.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
