It’s really up to your partners to figure this out. They have a workflow that is not video friendly and they’ve got to discover how to make it work.

If they are unable to do that, you have two choices:
    1. Invest in the software required (add AI and PS and ID)
    2. Invest in the training you will need to work in those applications.

You would open their ID projects yourself and create/extract what you need.

They can export to PDF easily enough and you can import the format with some restrictions.

The real problems come when their print pages simply do not translate to video and require reworking. That demands editable layers.

You can check the apple.com forums for the hardware discussions.

Debugging Macintosh issues isn’t all that hard, it just takes a level of geeky exploration most of us pretend we won’t ever need to comprehend. You can explore dozens of Macintosh sites like MacFixit or invest in several excellent Macintosh OS/hardware books.

    Start running Activity Monitor.
    Start looking for trends.

    > I was really trying to find a way to almost create an element that acted like glass… since this is a 3d comp and the camera move around the glass it’s harder to create a video for the reflection for the current camera position…< Then we are dealing with a language translation issue, too. Like most Americans, I know only one dumb language. Looking through "glass" requires a refractive index that can be accomplished only with a true 3D modeling system. You can fake it AE with displacement mapping but it has no credibility, especially if you add camera movement. bogiesan

What do you think of when you see the term “window effect”?

You want to put a window into a wall in the scene?
You want a light to shine through a window?
You want the window to pass before the camera?
You’re just trying to figure out how to build a window object that looks like window?

    What do you really want?

[nelsonmay10] “haev tried every setting possible, but I can’t get a good render. When I do the mp4 the file is still 151MB and that is over the limit.”

Let’s do the math. That is a four billion to one data compression exercise for the video alone, not counting audio. I’d say, yeah, something is gonna get lost.

No, you cannot compress it and then compress the compressed to gain more compression. Well, you CAN, but it’s cleaner and quicker to do the job once.

Compressor should be able to give you a 320×240 image size at 5 frames a second with hundreds of colors to fit that target.

Seriously, there are dozens of youtube help files and youtube user support sties. I’ve never used any of them but I hear some of the more dedicated ‘tubers have helpful suggestions if you know where to go and ask nicely.

see my response to the exact same question you posted at apple.com.

    Not much help, though.

Look for the AE “Ring of Cows” tutorial.

Brian Maffit’s contribution to this genre was his Space Coaster when AE introduced d#.

At least you spelled “edifying” correctly.

Are you trying to simulate the camera passing through the metal of the safe’s door?

The coolest way to do this is to use a layer as a gobo for a light in a 3D project. That way the light casts accurate shadows and elongates realistically if it is moved.

Smart objects within applications such as Aperture still require the items to be imported and metadata available before the references to those objects can be sorted into smart folders.
