so, i’m doing a video where the camera is inside a safe then pulls out of the safe and goes through the inner walls of the safe. i’m expiramenting with some fractal noise but it’s not turning out the way i need it to. any suggestions?

do you mean like things that would actually be inside the safe? i’m going for more of a nebulus feel, almost like you’re stuck in the middle of really dark clouds with lots of motion.

People will say “why are there dark clouds in a safe?”

I’d just cut to the outside wall as you pull back. It would be the same effect as passing the camera through a solid layer in AE.

Or you could pass quickly through a few layers of imitation rods, wheels and gears. Accompany each pass-through with a whoosh or swish from SoundDogs.com.

At least you spelled “edifying” correctly.

Are you trying to simulate the camera passing through the metal of the safe’s door?

yeah, i’m trying to pull out through the metal of the safe’s door. the motion blur can compensate for some of the effect to cheat it a bit but i’m having a hard time coming up with the way to simulate going through a three dimensional door.

    So.
What is in this door, in your mind’s eye?

If it were solid gray metal, the screen would go dark for the few frames you’re inside the door.
If it were porous, maybe you’d see some air bubbles (as inside styrofoam, a sponge or pumice) pass by the camera, looking like the Starship Enterprise’s POV going backwards.
If it had machinery inside, see my previous post.

    So.
What is in this door, in your mind’s eye?
