The “Vertigo” effect you refer to was invented long before Hitchcock’s photographers used it. the idea is a matched zoom and dolly to maintain a relative image size, usualy the foreground subject, while the background image changes magnification. You can do this in AE using simple scaling or a very nice 3D move if the foreground and background are on separate layers.
Not sure why you’d need to that using Motion Tracking, though.
You may want to reverse-stabilize the shot so the background looks like it was shot at the same time.

Multiclip is an effect. Often requires rendering, but once it’s rendered, you can’t go back and change the editing. It’s complicated.
The jerkiness is probably based different drive specs in your two machines, which you do not describe.

Not much, no.
The power of the GPU is not harnessing the present iteration of AE. No one knows what will happen with CS4 as it ships and is updated.
INvest in cards appropriate to your applications other than AE.

You usually end up using several keyers, matte adjustments, and maybe some alpha transfer filters to create the holdback/matte. It’s not complicated but can get tricky if the elements you want to eliminate include lots of subtle tonal values. Yo need to stack keyers for each set of values.

Yes, buy Flash or CS3.

You can research Flash encoders with a click on google or versiontracker.com. There are many cheap software offerings. They all have limitations.

You should not have accepted this job knowing you did not have the resources to complete it. Find a local video shop that will do the conversion for you. You may lose money on the deal but your client will be happy.

Buying a RAID is weird. You need to spend a few hours reading the real world review. Caldigit is only one of dozens RAID manufacturers. That fact that it comes recommended by Cow people is interesting but, in itself, that is meaningless. It’s YOUR money, not ours. To make your decision based on what I have in my shop is silly.

I’d never buy a JVC anything. Not ever.

It’s very tedious in Motion since Motion cannot do 3D shadows from objects.
You need to know how to use Clone Layers but don’t expect the Clone to have 3D interactivity as you move your camera.

Look for REFLECTION EFFECTS.
It’s really only an illusion and it’s a sloppy hack. This is a failure of the application.
