Buying a RAID is weird. You need to spend a few hours reading the real world review. Caldigit is only one of dozens RAID manufacturers. That fact that it comes recommended by Cow people is interesting but, in itself, that is meaningless. It’s YOUR money, not ours. To make your decision based on what I have in my shop is silly.

I’d never buy a JVC anything. Not ever.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

I agree with David’s comments on your Ram.

From speaking with several Apple support staff and other retailers I found out when we bought our new systems that Apple’s minimum system requirements are 4GB of memory, but they suggest 8GB.

Get 8GB of ram as others have suggested.

yes there are many raid vendors out there.
Caldigit can be trusted. They get right back to you if you need help, which
not all vendors do. They make great products that really stand up imo.

Do you really need the KL-breakout box for the kona?

Instead of the JVC monitor you should find here on the cow classifieds
or ebay a sony PVM 14L5 or PVM 20L5 monitor.

On your Samsungs, the 24″ were really cheap at Costco last month, just a thought, and on your speakers, listen to the Rokit5’s from KRK, half the price of the Genelecs.

The rest looks great, but the advice about the RAID is good, look at a few in that price range. I’ve had great luck with the Firmtec, going on 2 years.

    Have a wonderful day.

Is the JVC really that bad. I have heard good things about this monitor and the specs. look good as well.

I have the 24″ with HD-SDI and it works great. Very accurate for a monitor in this price range.

The JVC is very nice – but viewing angle is pretty narrow. $999? Does that come with HD-SDI?

8 Gig is cheap these days. Worth the price!

Caldigit is great! Really phenomenal! I have the HDone 4TB and it’s plug and play with blazing speed even when 90% full. Other vendors may also be great but I’ve had no experience with others.

    Good luck!

The ATI cards generally outperform the nVidia cards when running Apple Pro Apps that leverage Core Image. More info here:
